The philosophy behind Love Notes
© is based on three
very practical and widely used therapeutic practices as they relate to
early child development:
-
Sensory Integration
-
Neuro Developmental Treatment
-
Music
Sensory integration is the organization of information which our body's
take in through our sense of touch, smell, sight, sound, movement, force
of gravity, and body position. Sensory integration refers to our
bodies' ability to process all of this information and use it to dictate
our actions or movements.
Neuro Developmental Treatment, often called NDT is a treatment technique
based on performance of motor skills. This includes fostering optimal
development of reflexes, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, balance,
and overall coordination. The sensory integration system must be
intact for normal reflexes and motor responses to take place and vice versa.
The Love Notes© program effectively utilizes these two
concepts to ensure a highly effective developmental exercise program for
babies and young children.
The effects of music on childrens' developing brains and motor skills
has proven to be invaluable. Research indicates that both hemispheres
of the brain are involved in processing music, thus heightening senses
and motor response together, which also occur on both sides of the brain.
Music has been proven to improve spatial reasoning, problem-solving skills,
creative thinking, memorization, body rhythmicity, coordination, and balance.
In a study done in 1996 on children ages five months through eight years,
it was found that music with 60 beats per minute, which mimics the tempo
of the heart, normal sucking, and walking had several benefits to children.
It improved learning and retention of verbal material, coping strategies,
and motor skills. Many songs in Love Notes© are 60
beats per minute based on these findings.
A program based on these three essential concepts is sure to make parents
happy, while the fun lyrics and interactive movements will keep the little
ones asking for more.
